The Metro trains are running “as normal” this morning, Tuesday, May 11, after the stretch of line between Airport and Regent Centre was effected when the region experienced thunder, lightning and heavy rain during the afternoon.

A bus replacement service was put on yesterday, while delays were caused for passengers travelling across the network, including in South Tyneside and Sunderland.
Meanwhile, a peak service has been withdrawn today due to a core service train developing a fault, affecting the 7.50am Monkseaton to Pelaw train and the 8.39 Pelaw to Monkseaton service.
Nexus has said: “We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
