Delays for rail travellers as safety inspection closes southbound East coast Mainline

Operator LNER Tweeted this morning, Wednesday, October 28, that the southbound East Coast Mainline had been closed for a safety inspection.

The closure is between York and Doncaster, a stretch of the line also used by Grand Central services from Sunderland and Hartlepool.

LNER said the track ws potentially broken and and inspection was under way.

The closure was expected to remain in effect until at least 9.45 and the line reopened shortly after 10am.
