A councillor has said that a crash near the sites of potential housing developments highlights the need for a traffic report for the area.
Earlier this month, Northumberland Estates’ plan to build 57 homes in Rothbury was deferred by the county council’s strategic planning committee.
The scheme is split into two development areas – for private homes at Lordenshaw Drive and affordable houses to the south of Dr Thomlinson’s CofE Middle School and Silverton Lane.
Last week, emergency services were called to a one-vehicle crash along the B6342, near the school.
Rothbury Coun Steven Bridgett said: “I hope a traffic report will be generated and put before the planning committee. It is not the first crash, nor will it get any better in this area with the extra traffic and entrances created by the proposed developments.”
