An Amble couple are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary today.
Don and Margaret Douglas met at a Saturday night dance in the Amble Legion Dance Hall and married two years later at Amble Parish Church.
After the wedding, Dan worked as a plasterer for Carse and later they were both stewards at the Legion Club, which no longer exists but was at the bottom of Queen Street where the town square now is.
The couple, who have lived in the town their whole lives, have four children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
They are celebrating 60 years of marriage with a party for family and friends.
