Santa Claus will soon be coming to town, as plans for Amble’s Christmas lights switch-on parade are taking shape.
The festive event will be held on Sunday, November 17, starting at 5pm and finishing around two hours later.
The lights committee has been working on some new displays and the Town Square will be busy from mid-afternoon with children’s entertainment.
There has been a good response from the community wanting to take part in the parade and lantern workshops have started in schools in the area.
Youngster Bobby Stone, the winner of the 2013 Amble and Warkworth Good Citizens’ Award, will press the button to start the event.
A Christmas market, which was held last year, will not be staged this time round.
The Amble Action Group, which helps organise the festive event, has announced plans for the 2014 puffin festival, following the successful inaugural event earlier this year.
It will run from Monday, May 26, to Saturday, May 31, and a variety of activities are proposed, including talks, a craft market and music festival.
Anyone wanting to take part or help out should contact the committee.
