Tillside top the table in Premier League after win over Warkworth

Tillside 1sts beat Warkworth 1sts by 102 runs to pick up another 30 points and remain top of the Northumberland Premier League table.

Skipper Gareth Hill won the toss and decided to bat first and again this was a good decision, although they got off to a poor start again finding themselves 41-2 early on.

However , Liam Hindmarsh continued his fine form by scoring another 50 before eventually being out for 53. Jake Birkett and Hill both batted well as Birkett reached 32 and Hill got 72 off 60 balls, including five fours and three sixes.

Other than this, the rest of the guys just chipped in but nothing significant as Tillside finished on 247-9 off their 50 overs.

Birkett and Duncan Sim opened the bowling but not with great effect as the home side rushed to 61-1 off 10 overs.

Birkett was hooked after five overs having claimed 1-32 as Stewart Wright and Cam McGregor replaced the opening bowlers and this worked despite Wrig being bit on the bum by a cow...

Wright finished with figures of 4-39 off 13 overs and McGregor finished with 4-28 off 12 overs.

This meant that Warkworth were bowled out for 145 as Tillside claimed all the points.

Warenford had an 88-run home victory over Cramlington 2nds in Division 1.

Brian Thompson top scored with 81, and there were also valuable knocks of 46 from Daniel Patterson and Alan Sinton, whilst Kevin Thompson hit 26 and Ian Patterson 25 as Waren posted a useful 288-7 off their 50 overs.

In reply, Cramlington lost two early wickets. Adam Robson with 38 and Dean Walker with 31 tried to lift the visitors, but with Alistair Grieve taking 3-33 they were all out for 200.

In Division 2 Embleton had a 105-run win over Stobswood 2nds. Liam Turnbull hit 76 and Hendley Grey 54 not out as the home side posted a very respectable 237-9 off their 40 overs.

Jack Wingfield took 4-57 for Stobswodd, who in reply saw opener Andy Todhunter try to claw back the deficit with an unbeaten 67.

But the rest of the team struggled to match his rate and with Grey, John Wilkin and Scott Lawson all claiming two wickets, they struggled to 132-8 in their 40 overs.

Tillside 2nds beat Monkseaton 2nds by 10 wickets to claim another 30 points.

Calum Bickerton opened the bowling again with Luke Dickson and Bickerton claimed another early wicket as the visitors were 1-1 off three overs.

Dickson then claimed another early wicket which left Monkseaton 10-2 off 6. At the drinks break the home side had claimed another two wickets as Monkseaton were 34-4. Dickson and Bickerton were replaced by Craig Robertson and Davey Robertson as they continued to claim regular wickets and eventually bowled the visitors out for 77.

Bickerton finished with 3-10 off 7.2 overs, Dickson with 1-14 off 10, Robertson 2-9 off eight and Robertson 4-28 off 10.

Dave Reay had to open with Keith Bickerton and it worked again. Both batters looked in complete control and eventually finished with Reay on 38* and Keith Bickerton 32* as Tillside coasted to victory.

Wooler won by 112 runs when they travelled to Ulgham in Division 3.

Angus Todd (38) and Andy Galivan (48) got the Glendale side off to a decent start, but their innings was boosted by an unbeaten 79 from Andrew Aitchison and 73 not out from To. comber, which meant they went on to post a big score of 282-4 off their 40 overs.

Dan Allen hit 59 not out as Ulgham were restricted to 170-5 in their innings.

Also in Division 3, Rock had a big ten wicket win over Hebburn 2nds.

Hebburn were skittled for only 44 all out in less than 20 overs with Kieran North taking a match-winning 6-16.

In reply, Rock eased to 47-0 with Kevin Wilson on 29 not out.
