Team members Simon Henderson, Helen Henderson, Maggie Harker and Guy Richardson won through the first rounds to beat Seahouses in the zone final.
Going on to the district final, they were finally beaten by the excellent team from Darlington – number one in the District.
District governor Les Fay described the achievement as very promising for a new team and captain Simon Henderson said: “We’ve got a taste for the competition now and have a better understanding of the way Rotary runs its quizzes. We can hardly wait until next year’s competition.”
The club named its two quiz teams after the rivers running through the area – and also for the two mascot dogs given by Canine Partners, a charitable trust supported by the club and which trains dogs to help people with severe disabilities.
The club meets on Thursday evenings at the Wheatsheaf in Wooler. If you’d like to find out more, contact Jane Pannell on 01289 388321 or firstname.lastname@example.org
