Thousands of thanks

A NORTH Northumberland village’s charity quest has raised £3,500 in just two months.

Belford’s Help for Heroes campaign has reached the sum through activities including a round-the-village pub quiz, Denise Morrison quizzing the Blue Bell Hotel’s coach parties and twenty villagers walking from Alnmouth to Seahouses along the coast in torrential, monsoon-like rain, leaving those taking part steaming upon arrival.

Belford Old Guard member Paul Smith said: “We would like to thank everyone for being so generous.

“In particular Mrs.Robinson from Craster who ran out in the rain to give us ten pounds for the charity after hearing Mick Parkin on Radio Newcastle.”

One event is planned each month with the next being a 60/70s night at Belford Golf Club on Friday, July 1 with live music from Before The Mast.

Tickets are available from the Blue Bell and Belford newsagents.
