THOUSANDS of people enjoyed a fantastic weekend out at some of the county’s most famous attractions, thanks to the Northumberland Residents’ Festival.
Residents soaked up the April sunshine last weekend and enjoyed free or discounted entry to Northumberland’s best castles, gardens, stately homes and museums.
Organised by Northumberland County Council, the festival provided a great family day out for anyone who lives in the county.
Coun Marcia Bircham, chairman of Northumberland County Council, said: “The weather this weekend was perfect for the festival and we’re delighted that so many residents were able to enjoy it.
“We are very grateful to all the attraction providers who opened their doors to residents during the 2011 festival weekend.
“This provided a great experience for local residents and it also showcases the wonderful attractions Northumberland has to offer.”
