Police are appealing for information after a number of thefts from properties in rural areas of Northumberland.

Sometime between Tuesday, August 25, and Wednesday, August 26, thieves targeted a number of barns, outhouses and properties in the areas of Lucker, Chatton and Belford.

Items taken during the thefts included tools and farming equipment and inquiries into the incidents are ongoing.

It comes on the back of a recent warning by Alnwick police inspector Paul Truscott, who urged the public to be vigilant following a number of thefts from rural locations over the last two months, with quad bikes and trailers among the haul.

Officers are appealing for anybody with information to come forward and are keen to speak to anyone who might have seen any suspicious people, or vehicles – especially a white Transit van – to contact them on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 241 23/07/15. Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
