Thieves broke into a Boots store in Northumberland and stole a quantity of items during an overnight raid.

Police responded to an intruder alarm at 3.19am today at the chemists on Queen Street, Amble.

The front door had been forced open and a quantity of razors and electric toothbrushes were stolen, although the value of the haul is not yet known.

Police said there was no attempt to gain access to the pharmacy.

Witnesses or anyone with information concerning potential offenders or the whereabouts of the stolen property should call police on 101.
