The life and times of former Duke

An acknowledged expert on North East history will be appearing at Alnwick’s Barter Books later this month to present a talk about Algernon Percy, the fourth Duke of Northumberland.

Guest speaker Dr Richard Lomas has written two books on the Percys; A Power in the Land and The Fall of the House of Percy.

He has also produced the definitive reference book, The Encyclopaedia of the North East, and currently teaches for two American universities at their summer semester in Europe.

The talk about the Duke, who was born in 1792, but died in 1865, takes place on Monday, March 17.

After the talk, there will be wine and nibbles with Dr Lomas.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
