The Rothbury Music and Memories group, a Royal Voluntary Service project, is opening its doors to anyone interested in the songs of the music hall and variety theatre.
Local historian Andy Griffiths will be giving a talk featuring songs, music and a visual history next Thursday, 1.30pm to 3.30pm, in the Jubilee Hall. Tickets £3 on 07525 902269.
Karen Renner, RVS services manager said: “Many of us will remember The Good Old Days from the BBC. Compered by Leonard Sachs, the audience dressed in period costume and joined in the singing.
“This event will seek to recreate some of the spirit of that programme. It will also provide some background to the development and establishment of music hall entertainment and its evolution into modern-day variety.
“It promises to be a fascinating afternoon with audience participation a key element of the proceedings! Anyone in Northumberland is welcome to attend this event which is being hosted by the Royal Voluntary Service.”
