The Bard comes to first school

To mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, St Michael's CofE First School invited in an actor to work with the children to put on a play-in-a-day.

Diana, from West End in Schools, came up to Alnwick and had a great day working with children on scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The children had an amazing time learning lines from the play, acting out scenes, producing freeze frames and performing chants.

They then presented the play in its entirety to each other at the end of the day, combining movement, sound effects and clear speaking.

Headteacher Gavin Johnston described it as ‘an amazing opportunity to engage with a Shakespearean play’.
