After six years as chairman of Northumberland Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (NIFCA), Robert Arckless chaired his final quarterly meeting of the Authority last week.
Robert was a member of NIFCA’s predecessor body, Northumberland Sea Fisheries Committee, before becoming NIFCA chairman in 2011.
A veteran councillor, Robert is also standing down from his duties as a town and county councillor.
NIFCA CEO Mike Hardy and the new NIFCA chairman Les Weller both paid tribute to his great contribution and everything which has been achieved over the last six years.
Hailing from Amble, Robert confirmed that he has always taken a keen interest in the welfare of local fishermen and the fishing industry and that he has been proud to serve as a member and chairman of the Authority.
New chairman Les Weller said he is honoured to be appointed into the role.
