TENANTS should soon be receiving keys to their new homes as Northumberland County Council completed a sale in Alnwick.
Last week, the Gazette reported that residents were being left in limbo as they waited for Homes for Northumberland to let them move into new properties at Ropery Court, next to Morrisons.
Now the Gazette has been told the council, which has bought them to be let out by Homes for Northumberland, has completed the sale with gentoo.
Coun Gordon Castle, who represents Alnwick, said Homes for Northumberland had done a ‘good job’ in keeping tenants informed about the plans, despite the concerns they raised in the Gazette last week.
He said: “I was rather disappointed that a negative view was taken. The problems were to do with the transfer of ownership from gentoo to Northumberland County Council.
“A dedicated officer was put in place to deal with individual cases.
“The completion has now taken place and we are moving to get problems sorted out as soon as possible. This is a really good scheme.”
