A teenager had to be cut out of his car after crashing into a tree on the A697 at Cornhill.

The 19-year-old was taken to Borders General Hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

Northumbria Police received the report of a one vehicle collision involving a Vauxhall Corsa at 3.26am yesterday (Tuesday).

Police and the fire service attended and the casualty was extracted from the vehicle and taken to hospital.

Enquiries into the collision are continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 78 18/10/16
