A teenage beauty is competing in a regional pageant tonight, on the back of her first modelling photoshoot.
Hannah Mackay is a finalist in this evening’s Miss North-East GB competition, where she will be vying to win the Miss Newcastle GB crown.
Other categories within the regional contest are Miss Sunderland GB, Miss Teesside GB and Miss Durham GB.
The victor of each section will compete at Miss Great Britain 2015 later this year, among other perks.
Ahead of the event, the 18-year-old took centre stage at Bamburgh beach for her debut shoot, which was for a series of international agencies, following a successful test photoshoot in the spring.
She said: “I entered the pageant in order to gain experience and as a confidence-boost and hoped this would help open the door to doing some fashion modelling
“I did not know what to expect from the original indoor test-shoot and was somewhat tense and nervous looking back at the first images.
“I was under-contract not to say anything at that stage and did not want to build-up my expectations. I was then given the go-ahead a week later but due to poor weather conditions and rescheduling, the outdoor photoshoot did not take place until a month later at Bamburgh.”
Hannah says the experience was a real eye-opener and has helped her prepare for tonight’s North East GB contest, which is her first competition.
“I’m a novice on the pageant circuit and having got through to the final, I would not rule out entering other competitions. It’s been fun and exciting and I’d recommend other local girls consider entering next year.”
Hannah, who works at The Plough, in Alnwick, says she can’t wait to compete in tonight’s contest, which takes place at Wynyard Hall.
The teenager was given clearance to use some of the photo out-takes for the Miss Newcastle GB publicity brochure. She wants to do more fashion modelling and has two other photoshoots lined up.
