A charity golf day to raise funds for play equipment at a special school in Alnwick is taking place next month.

And organiser Steve Miller hopes that it will be the first in an annual series supporting different charities in the Alnwick area.

The golf day takes place on Saturday, September 26, at Alnwick Castle Golf Club and proceeds will go towards an outdoor swing for the nursery at Barndale House School.

Steve, who runs AA Taxis, said: “We do a school contract there with a couple of kids and I know people in the Alnwick area who have got kids there.

“We know how tough it is for the staff there to do their jobs and how it will help the children.

“The whole concept is to raise money for local Alnwick charities and the aim is to do more events in future years.”

The golf will be for four-person teams. playing from a shotgun start, where all the teams tee off at the same time at different holes, meaning a maximum of 18 teams. Entry to the contest, which will start at 2pm, costs £50 per team to include a meal afterwards.

Steve’s AA Taxis is sponsoring the event this year and there will be awards on the day for closest to the pin, longest drive and the first three teams.

Anyone who wants to enter a team, any business which would like to donate prizes for a tombola or to sponsor the event next year and choose a charity should contact Steve on steveho_79@hotmail.co.uk

Steve thanked Alnwick Castle Golf Club for hosting the event and CBS World for producing posters for free.
