Tarmac’s ‘great sadness’ after death at Northumberland quarry

The company which runs the Northumberland quarry where a man was killed yesterday morning has expressed its sympathy and vowed to cooperate fully with investigations.

Adam Donaldson, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene, following an incident at Harden Quarry, Biddlestone, near Rothbury.

The Coquetdale community has been left in shock and this afternoon, site owner Tarmac expressed its sympathy.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “We can confirm with great sadness that our colleague, Adam Donaldson, working for a contractor, lost his life at Harden Quarry in Northumberland yesterday morning. Our thoughts are with Adam’s family, friends and colleagues.

“We are cooperating fully with the authorities and supporting the Health and Safety Executive with their investigations, so cannot comment further at this stage.”
