Three women have smashed their own target in their latest fund-raising venture to support two local charities – HospiceCare North Northumberland and the Seahouses and District Cancer Research Fund.
Louise Dawson, Sue Patterson and Joan Turnbull, all from Seahouses, held a party which was attended by more than 250 people and collected more than £5,200, which will be split between the two causes.
The evening was aptly named A Touch of Pink, in honour of the favourite colour of their friend who they lost to cancer.
During the event, Ali Thompson had her head shaved; a gesture which raised £600.
The women said that the party was a tremendous success. They have thanked all the local businesses that donated raffle prizes and the Seahouses lights committee, which created a special dragonfly light that was unveiled at the party and will be displayed this year as part of the Seahouses Christmas lights display.
Louise said: “The dragonfly emblem is our way of remembering our friend and was a very special touch to an emotional evening.”
