This is the fourth youth takeover event at the theatre by members of the Young Alnwick Playhouse group and will showcase a range of musical, dance and theatrical talent in an attempt to introduce young people to the arts.

Previous shows have been very successful, creating a lot of buzz and excitement about the performers both in the lead-up to the event, and certainly after, with calls for more shows like it.

This season’s takeover is set to feature more than 20 performers in eight bands, as well as two student-produced films, and will be the most diverse event yet.

The performers were selected from across the county, with some veterans returning to the Playhouse stage, such as songstress Hannah Lamb, and theatrical jack-of-all-trades Tyler Angus.

New bands Alnwicky and No Ocean, comprising of students at the Duchess’s High School, will also take their well-earned place on the stage, adding to Alnwicky’s growing success of performing at numerous local festivals and helping No Ocean make a name for themselves on Northumberland’s gigging scene after numerous successes in school musicals, such as this March’s Rock of Ages.

Adding a new aspect to the evening, however, are the short films directed by students and highlighting the range of talent in the young people in the North East.

The main event is scheduled to start at 7.30pm in the auditorium, however due to popular feedback, there will be live music in the bar area from 6.30pm to help you get your feet stamping and ready for the show.

Young Alnwick Playhouse aims to make the Playhouse more fun and available for young people in the community, by hosting music nights, showing popular new films and play screenings, and opening a student-friendly cafe. The team has been working hard since June to organise the event to make it bigger and better than previous shows, building on constructive feedback from the audience in order to provide more for the community.

Other than the exceptional performances, delectable snacks and fun, vibrant atmosphere to entertain all ages, the event is another opportunity to support young local performers.

Tickets are £7.50 for standard tickets and £5.50 for children and students, and are available from the Alnwick Playhouse website www.alnwickplayhouse.co.uk.
