Shepherds Fest is being staged in Alnwick on Saturday, June 11, to coincide with a weekend of national festivities to mark the Royal milestone.

The extravaganza at the Shepherds Rest Caravan Park will run from 1pm to 10pm and will feature live music from bands and solo artists, a DJ, beer tent, craft stalls, Slaters Funfair, a bouncy castle, face-painting, hog roast and barbecue.

Proceeds from the tickets will go to Alnwick Round Table, Alnwick Lights Committee, Alnwick Lions and Alnwick International Music Festival.

As part of the build-up to the event, students from Alnwick’s Duchess’s Community High School were asked to come up with a ticket design and the winners were announced recently. Year 10 pupil Lauren Carr, 15, from Shilbottle, has created the look of the adult tickets (priced £10), while Year Nine student Brooke Ryder, 13, from Alnwick, designed the children’s coupon (£3). Tickets are on sale now.

The extravaganza is being organised by Linda Gaines, of LG Events, and she said that the party will be one to remember.

Tickets can be purchased from The Shepherds Rest, The George Inn, Sun Vision and Mivesi – all in Alnwick – as well as from Linda by emailing her at [email protected]

Linda is looking to someone to provide outside toilets and donate raffle prizes. A number of music acts are already lined up, but more are welcome.
