BUDDING swimmers and novices are being asked to take part in a Guinness World Record attempt to raise money for an international charity appeal.
Marion Long of the Rotary Club of Alnwick is urging people to take part in the Rotary Global Swimarathon.
The aim of the event is to have as many people as possible across the world, swimming 100 metres between noon and 1pm on Saturday, February 25.
The Alnwick event will take place at Willowburn Sports and Leisure centre, which has provided pool use for free as well as staff to monitor the event.
Taking part costs £2 which includes hot soup and a chocolate bar after the event, and all funds raised will go to the Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign, which has already raised millions of pounds.
Marion said: “We would like as many people as possible to take part to help break the Guinness World Record and raise money.”
Those wanting to register should contact Marion on 01669 622943 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Official records of the event will be taken to add to others taking place.
