And Catherine Mason’s photo of a low-flying swan at Alnmouth beach was the most popular reader picture last week with 134 likes.

In second place was another from Catherine – Warkworth Castle from an unusual angle – which had 123 likes; third was an amazing sunset at Shilbottle by Dave Barras (117 likes); while Derek Taylor’s stormy sea at Amble was fourth (94 likes).

Ken Carter’s view through the Newton-by-the-Sea dunes was fifth, with 90 likes.
