Rock Hall School held a successful summer school last month.
It was the result of a unique partnership between The Alnwick Federation of Schools and Rock Hall School.
A programme of outdoors education combined with literacy skills and reading to help children who were transferring between schools was provided.
The teaching staff were supported by a team of volunteers – parents, governors, classroom assistants, students from the local high school sixth form and Northumbria University.
The school was funded by money from the Department for Education but also contributions from community organisations. The Rotary Club, John Bull Letter Draw, MACPI, Alnwick & District Round Table and The James Knott Trust all donated, while Morrisons and Sainsbury’s donated water bottles.
It is hoped it will become an annual event.
