Summer arts for children
A programme of summer events, aimed at the under sixes and their families, has been launched by an Alnwick attraction.
The Alnwick Playhouse has set up a series of creative events and workshops on Tuesdays throughout the summer holidays. They are part of Creative Cocoon, the Alnwick Playhouse Arts’ programme for families.
All the events are free – but tickets need to be booked as spaces are limited.
The first session, on Tuesday, July 26 – The Very Hungry Caterpillar – has already sold out.
Movement and Mirrors will take place on August 2, with dancer Lynn Campbell and musician Keith Mills to move, dance and explore in a specially created glittery disco ball environment.
It will be storytime with Hairy Maclary and friends on August 9 with special crafts brought to life by the resident storytelling team.
Artist and puppeteer Alison McGowan and musician Alex Finnegan, from Puppetship, will run the sock puppets event and workshop onAugust 16 when youngsters can make their own sock puppets to take home.
On August 23 – the last workshop of the series – will be art attack with mess galore and the chance to make some amazing creations.
Each event and workshop will open from 10am with tea and coffee before a 10.30am start.
Youngsters are invited to dress up and get involved as much or as little as they like.
