The show Years to Remember is coming to Alnmouth Hindmarsh Hall on Friday, January 15, and the Alnmouth WI Songsters will take part as a choir and as suffragettes in a rally.
Mary Hollins, the show’s producer, said: “Alnmouth’s WI Songsters have made the record of being the first time Alnmouth WI features in the December edition of our national magazine WI Life, with a photo and short article.
“This is notable because Alnmouth’s is one of the oldest WIs in the country – it will celebrate its centenary in 2017.”
The show, which commemorates the First World War in music song and dance, will feature the pipes and drums, renowned mouth organ trio Mouthing Off, clog dancing, Dolly Grey soloist, trumpeter Richard Stamp and recitations from Lieutenant Col Hogg.
Consummate raconteur and award-winning master of Northumbrian dialect Alex Swailes OBE will act as MC for the evening.
Tickets cost £8, available from Alnmouth and Lesbury Post Offices, or by calling 01665 830330. It starts at 7.30pm.
