Staff and customers at WCF Pet & Equestrian enjoyed a busy open day at which new and existing customers raised almost £250 for charity.

This was matched by WCF and £500 is now being shared between Alexa’s Animals and Roo, a two-legged rescue dog from Romania now living in Northumberland.

Roo was the star of the show alongside birds of prey from Old English Falconry. The falconry team provided information about the birds and how they earn their living being pest controllers and ring bearers at weddings.

Also pitching up on the front lawn of the South Road store were Alexa’s Animals, Canine First Aid, Caroline Spencer, from Pure Dog Listener, and Northumbrian Canine Centre. The day was also supported by representatives from feed suppliers Saracen and Allen & Page.

Store manager Steph Stott and her team organised face-painting, a tombola, guess the name of the bear, a raffle to win pet goodies donated by the store and a handmade WCF cake and homemade cake stand.

The next event will be a First Aid for Dogs workshop with Stacy Burleigh on Sunday, October 29, in the store. More details can be found at WCF Pet & Equestrian Alnwick’s Facebook page.
