A fund-raiser is taking on a charity walk this Saturday, in aid of a cause which is close to his heart.
Stuart Ferguson will be trekking from Warkworth to Lucker, taking in Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh castles along the way.
His route – covering more than 28 miles – will follow the Northumberland Coast Path and St Cuthbert’s Way.
Stuart has a caravan in Lucker and will finish his walk at the village’s Apple Inn, where he is a regular.
He is doing the walk for the Ward 48 Gastroenterology Fund. Ward 48, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, is an acute medical ward for adults specialising in gastroenterology and provides care for people with bowel and liver-related disease, as well as many other medical conditions.
Stuart said: “A very close member of my family has been suffering with Crohn’s disease for more than half his life, so the chance to raise money for this cause is very personal.”
He has already raised just over £6,000 for the cause. To sponsor him, visit his online fund-raising page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stuart-ferguson21
