Straker stars with bat and ball in Alnwick win

Alnmouth and Lesbury had a seven wicket away win over Bedlington 1sts in the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League on Saturday.

Bedlington batted first and they lost two early wickets.

Darren Leason tried to rescue the innings with an unbeaten 50, but there was no one else to lend him the support to push the run rate along and in the end they were all out for 123 in 42 overs.

Paul Straker took 4-34 with the ball for Alnmouth with Nicholas Denton claiming 3-34.

In reply Straker hit 68 not outand with Johnny Ridley on 38 not out they passed their target at 126-3 in 39 overs.

Alnwick 1sts had a comfortable nine wicket away victory over Seaton Burn 1sts in a low scoring game.

Seaton Burn batted first and were all out for only 96 with Rashid Shad their top scorer on 26.

David Wright took 3-9 and Andrew Scott 3-28.

In reply, Scott hit an unbeaten 74 to guide his team to victory at 99-1.

Alnmouth 2nds won by 118 runs when they faced Bedlington 2nds at home.

Alnmouth posted 255-6 in their 45 overs with Bedlington making 137 in reply.

Alnwick 2nds won by 27 runs at home to Seaton Burn 2nds.

With N Richardson on 55 and Kyle Hollingworth on 30, Alnwick put on 145-7 in 43 overs.

Malcolm Alderson took 4-45 for the visitors, who in reply were all out for 118 with M Ali top scoring on 30 and Paul Redmayne on 29.

Joe Straker claimed 3-11 in his four over spell.
