A new manager has been appointed for Alnwick Markets.
Steve Ellaby, who succeeds Mike Walsh in the role, hopes the business can help the town thrive.
“This will be a new challenge for me,” he said.
“My family and I live in Alnwick. We know that it deserves its reputation as a great place to live. I am very much looking forward to working in the town and to getting to know the traders and local shoppers at the market.
“We are fortunate to have a historic market square full of character. Alnwick Markets wants to continue to contribute to a vibrant town centre for local shoppers and visitors alike.”
After a 20-year career in the Armed Forces, Steve has been working as a manager with ISS Facilities at RAF Boulmer.
Philip Angier, Alnwick Markets’ chairman, is delighted to have him on board.
“Steve brings hands-on experience of event management, team leadership and communications, as well as obvious enthusiasm for the role the markets play in the life of the town,” he said.
Alnwick Markets will be contributing to the Town Team’s latest Portas Pilot bid and to the Alnwick & Denwick Neighbourhood Plan which is currently being developed.
