The colleagues at the store, along with members of their families, completed the trek from Beadnell Bay to Craster earlier this month.

Manager Karen Chisholm said: “We had a fun walk and would like to say a huge thank-you to all the kind donations we received from our customers, family and friends; more than £600 has been raised.”

The walk was part of the company’s major fund-raising push.

WHSmith is celebrating 225 years, having been established in 1792, and the firm is aiming to raise £2million nationally for its three chosen charities, which are Cancer Research UK, Mind – the mental health charity and the National Literacy Trust.
