Step out for a taste of Nordic walking

FREE Nordic walking taster sessions are being held next month.

Shepherds Walks, which is based at Kirkharle Courtyard, will deliver them on Sunday, September 4.

Jon Monks, from Shepherds Walks, said: “We have taught nearly 500 adults and children to Nordic walk over the past 12 months and once people have tried it they are quite excited about their recently-acquired skill.

“We have been delivering lots of different courses and walks for those being introduced to Nordic walking for the first time to those who want to improve their skills.”

One of the true success stories has been the involvement that Shepherds Walks has had working with schools in Northumberland, delivering six-week Nordic walking courses during school time and after-school clubs and the great feedback it has received from children, parents and teachers.

Shepherds Walks has been delivering Nordic walking taster sessions all over the country, including the highly-acclaimed Keswick Mountain Festival earlier this year.

Jon said: “It is great to offer these free taster sessions on our doorstep to the local people of Northumberland and Tyneside.”
