Stanwix hits nine goals for Craster in NNL

It was another frustrating weekend in the North Nothumberland League withn only two games surviving the weather.

Heavy frost made most pitches unplayable and only two games in the second division survived.

In one of them, Craster Rovers enjoyed a goal spree against Ashington West End, netting no fewer than 15 times, with striker Richard Stanwix enjoying a bumper day, bagging an unbelieveable nine goals!

In the other game, Ashington Miners beat Highfields United.

Craster found their goalscoring boots to inflict a heavy defeat on their visitors and move up the table to third position. Craster scored six times during the first half with Ashley Wright and Alan Fairbairn replying for West End .

The second half saw Craster step up the pressure and score freely adding seven more before the final whistle.

Richard Stanwix scored nine goals, Glen Robson two with Sean Angus and Ethan Delay also on the score sheet.

Ashington moved level on points with leaders Embleton following this win over Highfields.

Ashington had the better of the first half to net four times with Martin Inglis scoring for the visitors .

In the second half Highfields come more into the game after half time with Ryan Wedderburn scoring a second goal for the visitors while the home club added another goal before the final whistle

Goalscorers for Ashington were Bradley Higgins (3), Nick Storey and Scott Neal .
