The project, run jointly by the Glendale Gateway Trust and Wooler Parish Council, will involve litter-picking, tidying up, minor repairs and tackling anything that looks unsightly.

The tidy-up will be on Sunday, March 20, the week before the Easter weekend and the start of the school holidays, so that Wooler looks its best before the main visitor season.

If you want to volunteer to help, or report some particular unsightly area that needs attention, the spring-clean coordinator is Patrick Sheard, who can be contacted on [email protected]

As we reported last month, Alnwick Town Council has agreed to hold a clean-up event, also on Sunday, March 20. The weekend just gone was considered – it was part of a national campaign, Clean for the Queen, due to her 90th birthday this year – but it was decided that it would clash with Mother’s Day.
