Spa plans for empty units put on hold

Plans to create Alnwick’s first day spa have been put on hold.

Neighbours of the McCarthy and Stone development on Bondgate Without were notified with letters last week about plans to sub-divide the ground floor units and partially change their use.

But the Gazette has been told that the current application is now on hold because of a delay in the sale of the units.

If it goes ahead the plan is to divide up the unit.

At the front there would be three similar sized spaces. The middle unit would continue through to occupy the space behind while the two units either side would not.

It is envisaged that the spa would take the middle unit and the space at the back.

The application states that the developer, Tony Pull, is also in talks with applicants about taking the other two units.
