The Secret Spa at Village Farm, in Shilbottle, is hosting the celebration this afternoon from 1pm to 9pm.

The event is in aid of The Stephen Carey Fund and there will be a range of offers and goodies available on the day.

Guests will be treated to prosecco and nibbles on arrival and the first 100 people through the door will receive a goodie bag.

There will be treatment discount vouchers, a free gift with purchase (minimum spend required, while stocks last), demonstrations, a free gift-wrapping service and the chance to view ESPA and Jessica Christmas gift sets.

During the event, which is open to everyone, there will also be a raffle.

The spa is run by Sarah Hindhaugh and she is delighted to be celebrating the venue’s 18th birthday. She said: “I am extremely proud to reach 18 years. I am a bit humbled. I didn’t expect it grow like it has.

“I have got a great team of girls here and I couldn’t do it without them. We have got lovely, loyal clients that have stuck by us from day one.”

Sarah started from humble beginnings, using a Prince’s Trust grant to open the doors, and she has managed to build and expand the business since then.

In the early days, she was working solo and had one treatment room to serve a small collection of holiday cottages on the site.

But the business has grown over the years. It now has a team of five, additional treatment rooms, manicure and pedicure stations and a gym. The spa is also ESPA’s biggest account holder in the North East.

And there are exciting plans in the pipeline, which could take the spa to another level.

Sarah said: “I can’t say too much about it at the moment, but we are hoping to expand within the next two years. It is very exciting.”

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s celebration event, Sarah said she is delighted to be raising money for The Stephen Carey Fund.

She said: “It is a great charity and my brother knew Stephen and is a member of the Fund, so it is very close to our hearts.”
