Site visits ahead of decisions on two key planning proposals

Councillors on the planning committee are to visit the sites of two planning applications in north Northumberland before making a decision.

At Tuesday’s committee meeting, members agreed to take a closer look at proposals for Lemmington Hall and the Felton and Thirston Youth Club site.

The youth club plans would see the current building, on Recreation Lane, demolished and replaced with a new apartment block featuring four flats.

The scheme has sparked objections from Felton Parish Council and a number of residents which is why it is set to be decided by the committee.

The Lemmington Hall bid is for the demolition of the 1960s extension and the construction of a replacement extension; the renovation of Fenwick Summerhouse and the construction of three new-build holiday let/staff accommodation units with new vehicle access.

It was on the agenda for the June meeting of the committee, but was withdrawn, following a number of issues being raised during the previous site visit and the applicant, Aidan Ruff, subsequently submitting amended plans.
