Siblings walk in mum’s memory

A BROTHER and sister are embarking on a challenging walk in their mother’s memory for a local charity.

Cat McNish, originally from Bamburgh and her brother Michael, 47, will be walking 127 miles following the Liverpool to Leeds canal in aid of HospiceCare North Northumberland.

The charity has a special meaning for the siblings as it helped their mum, Kathleen, who died in February aged 66 after a battle with cancer.

Cat said: “She was comfortable and happy during her visits from the Hospice and this gave us as a family greater comfort to know she was under the capable hands of the experienced staff.”

The walk will start on Monday, May 14 and will take around four days to complete ending at the towpath in the city centre of Leeds.

Cat added: “It will be a challenge in itself but knowing that I am helping other families who need the service will spur me on each day.”
