Pupils from the Duke's Middle School, in Alnwick, learnt how to tackle racism last week.

Ex-Sunderland football player Gary Bennett and Durham City striker Richard Offiong visited the school, as part of the Show Racism the Red Card initiative.

Richard, who started his career at Newcastle United as a youth, said: “We have been educating the youngsters around racism; teaching them what racism is and how to combat it.”

Alnwick county councillor Heather Cairns also attended during the day.
