Sheep dog league trials

On Saturday, January 2, at Chathill, Kath Lyons, of Allendale, judged 17 dogs working strong cross-bred sheep over a large downhill course in wet and windy conditions:

1 Emma Gray, of Elsdon, with Jamie, 89 out of 100 points.

2 Bevis Jordan, of Whitfield, with Angel, 88.

3 Emma Gray with Fred, 80.

4 Bevis Jordan with Dude, 75.

5 David Henderson, of Allendale, with Fen, 71.

6 Tony Iley, of Longframlington, with Zike, 57.

Best novice was Angie Canham, of Acomb, with Gem. Best new handler was Claudia Pattinson, of Haltwhistle, with Jean.

On Saturday, January 16, at Healey Mill, Mark Elliott, of Lazonby, judged 18 dogs working well-behaved sheep over a large snow-covered field in freezing conditions:

1 Bevis Jordan with Angel, 89.

2 Emma Gray with Jamie, 88.

3 David Henderson with Fen, 77.

4 Emma Gray with Hoggy, 76.

5 Peter Telfer (Haydon Bridge) with Kettle, 75.

6 Michael Davidson, of Wooler, with Corrie, 72.
