Share your night-out safety tips online

POLICE want people to share their night-out safety tips on a new Facebook page.

The page, part of Northumbria Police’s Keys, Money, Phone, Plans to Get Home? campaign, already offers tips on responsible drinking and staying safe during nights on the town.

Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Jim Campbell of Northumbria Police said: “We want people to be able to enjoy a night out safely and make the most of the bars, pubs and clubs on offer without compromising their safety.

“We also want visitors to the area to remember their time here for all the right reasons”.

Tips shared by the force on the page include arranging how to get home in advance, keeping track of friends and making plans in case of a mishap.

“We’re asking people to play their part in keeping themselves safe, by taking simple steps such as pre-booking a taxi home, sticking with your friends and making sure you don’t make yourself vulnerable by drinking so much you can’t look after yourself safely,” added Mr Campbell.
