Sex case adjournment

THE sentencing of a woman who admitted a string of sexual offences has been adjourned for a fortnight.

Charlotte Lillian Bray, 58, of Quakers Row, Embleton, pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court in October to six counts of gross indecency with a child under the age of 14 and one further sexual offence, all of which took place between October 1980 and May 1990.

She reappeared at the crown court on Monday to be sentenced but judge John Evans ruled that the decision be delayed as work needed to be done on a sexual offences prevention order to restrict her unsupervised access to children. He said she was ‘something of a threat to young children’ and it was his duty to protect them.
