This abridged version will be performed under the directorship of Northern Stage’s associate director Mark Calvert.

Tired of the hard life under human rule, the starving animals of Manor Farm overthrow their master and drive him off the land. The animals decide to work together for the benefit of all. It’s agreed that all animals are equal, with an equal share of the food and work.

The pigs are the most intelligent and it’s not long before they become the leaders. Corrupted by the power they have assumed they begin to take on more and more human characteristics and life on the farm takes a turn for the worse.

NORTH is Northern Stage’s intensive training programme for aspiring early career performers.

Tickets for the production, at 7.30pm, are £11 premier, £10 adult, £8 concession, available from the box office on 01665 510785.
