A hunt is on to find a blind spaniel who went missing yesterday afternoon at Druridge Bay.

Kip, who recently achieved a top Kennel Club award for good behaviour, disappeared at around 12.30pm and was last seen running on the beach towards Low Hauxley and Amble.

He was wearing a high-visibility jacket, which had the words ‘I am blind’ on it. It is held on with Velcro so it could have been ripped off.

Kip is chipped and was wearing a collar and ID tag with full details.

Owner Sylvia Linnett is today searching for her beloved dog, aged four.

She said: “We don’t know if he carried on running up the beach or if he has gone into the sea, or if he went up the dunes.

“As it is low tide at the moment, we are currently looking in case his body has been washed up. We will resume the search inland later this afternoon.”

She has urged anyone who sees him to contact her on 07846 396853.
