Like so many village shows at this time of the year, Warkworth Show held its AGM recently to hear the result of the event in 2013.
Chris Howliston, show chairman, said: “We can be justly proud of what has been achieved by working together.”
He reflected in his report on the range of talent in the district and the quality of work submitted for the show bench and paid tribute to the high commitment made by the community, either on committees or as friends and supporters.
Treasurer Simon Buist reported another financially successful year and that was in spite of poor weather on the day.
The cost of staging the show increases annually, reaching a staggering £10,000 this year.
As a traditional village show held under canvas and in such a special location, the hire of marquees and venue represent a considerable proportion of the costs.
“Fortunately these costs are met by our income,” said Simon.
For various reasons, the show is to lose a few key people this year, so the search is on to find new volunteers to undertake some of the many tasks essential to the smooth running of the show.
Anyone willing to offer their services should contact secretary Sally Sample on 01665 711321 or speak to any committee member.
