Seahouses WI, Meeting

We commenced with David Turnbull, of Turnbulls Butchers of Alnwick, giving an excellent talk and demonstration on the preparation and cooking of meat and poultry. He had brought a whole chicken, a baron of beef and some pork.
Firstly, he showed how to split the chicken ‘spatchcock’, emphasising the necessity of using the correct tools, hygiene and speed. The chicken was opened, laid flat, stuffing was applied and it was brushed with olive oil and herbs. That was the raffle prize.

The vote of thanks was given by Val Hart. We had all been fascinated by the speed with which David delivered the cuts. He generously donated his payment to Cancer Research.
The raffle prize was won by Sheila Dickson.
After refreshments the minutes of our previous meeting were approved. Correspondence consisted of invitations to Bamburgh on April 12, Beadnell on April 11, and a Social Club Disco on May 20.
