'John joined the crew in 1949 and has served in various roles until his death. He had been lifeboat crew, then deputy launch authority and Station Management Committee chairman. He was totally dedicated to the RNLI and to this lifeboat station, serving for an amazing 67 years.

'He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his wife Mary, son John (Seahouses' current RNLI coxswain/mechanic), wife Andreena, and grandchildren Fraser and Emily. No funeral arrangements have yet been made.'
