An Italian restaurant has been granted planning permission to install new advertising signs.

Insieme Restaurant, in Seahouses, sought approval to have an internally-illuminated sign above the front door, a non-illuminated sign also above the front door and five signs to the back of the building overlooking the public car park.

North Sunderland Parish Council had objected to the proposal for the rear of Main Street, on a number of grounds, including that ‘the amount of signs is too commercial and not in keeping with a conservation area’.

However, the scheme was recommended for approval and members of the county council’s planning and performance committee voted unanimously in favour, with the condition that the lights are only on during opening hours.
